Four years later two French man used hot-air drying and heated curling tongs to make deep, long-lasting Marcel waves. The pressing/curling iron was patented by Theora Stephens in 1980. Wahl Clipper Corporation introduced Zee Curl to the professional market in 1987. Some curling irons work in similar way as that of the styling brush and a hair dryer which uses a hot air to style your hair. Some are made with narrow wands for tighter curls while the wider wand provides long allowing waves in the air. They can be used to create spiral curls, spring curls and sometimes used to straighten the hair.

There are hot, ceramic, steam and metal air curling brushes are available. You have to be careful in choosing among them. There are traditional curling brushes too which you can plug in to the wall.
